Tintin signage, Oslo Norway

My friend/colleague, Ed, took this photo for me in Oslo, Norway outside a random bookshop.  I wish he had brought back the sign instead of the photo, but I'll get what I can and be happy with it.  But next time in Oslo....

Couch Potato, Calling Carrot

I'm cleaning out some drawers and came across this b&w spot illustration I did for Ogilvy & Mather a number of years ago (note the styles of televisions) and brought a smile to my face.  It had something to do with people who watched "Selly Telly," like QVC, and were either "Couch Potatoes" or "Calling Carrots." I don't think "Calling Carrots" ever caught on.

Team Jacob

Jacob's dad died in his sleep in January. His aunt (and friend of mine) asked if I'd be interested in speaking with Jacob who has been keeping a fantastic little sketchbook filled with robots and super-heroes. I was thrilled to share my little sketchbook (also filled with robots and super-heroes) with him and take a look through his. I love looking at children's artwork that is so innocent and creative and unspoiled by structured adult art instruction. We scanned some of his characters and played on the computer and then I shared my painting process with him and created little robots on canvasboard and acrylic paint. The best robots come from your imagination and I think these two (and Jacob) are ready to conquer the world! We had a fun time.

Send Pests Packing!

Cartoon illustrations I did for a pest extermination company in Chicago. My favorites are the indignant rat and the caterpillar with the orange designer bag. Get out of town (or, at least, out of my house)!
